Thailand is set to have a 'national EV brand' backed by the government's Ministry of Commerce, in collaboration with Chery Automobile, SET, and other entities.
The joint venture is planning to launch three fully-electric models - a pick-up truck, an MPV, and an SUV with over 50% local content by the end of 2025.
The collaboration aims to promote domestic EV technology capabilities, support local parts manufacturers to enter the global supply chain, and offer tax incentives for the 'national EV brand'.
Chery's upcoming 'M Series' vehicles, including a seven-seat MPV, a seven-seat SUV, and a pick-up truck, are expected to be part of the Thai national EV brand lineup.
