China invests ~$1 billion in Bolivia’s lithium
- Chinese consortium CBC has signed an agreement with Bolivia's government to extract lithium.
- CBC will build two direct lithium extraction plants with an investment of at least $1 billion.
- The Bolivian government will hold a 51% stake in the plants located in the Uyuni salt flat.
- The lithium extraction plants are expected to produce 35,000 metric tons of lithium annually.
