China is planning to build data centres in Yiwu, housing over 115,000 high-end Nvidia AI GPUs despite Trump's restrictions on selling the technology.
The facility is being built by Chinese AI firms with government support, with at least 36 data centres planned.
There are concerns about where China will source these GPUs given the US restrictions, as other countries may be hesitant to help after investigations into chip smuggling.
China may resort to using its own H20 AI accelerators or developing its own AI chips if unable to import Nvidia GPUs for the data centres.
