<ul><li>A new ViciousTrap botnet, exploiting an old vulnerability, has compromised over 5,000 dated Cisco routers.</li><li>The flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands due to improper validation of user input within incoming HTTP packets.</li><li>Cisco won't be patching the bug as affected devices are past their end-of-life date. The botnet has assimilated nearly 5,300 devices in 84 countries.</li><li>Sekoia researchers believe the attackers, behind ViciousTrap, are of Chinese origin and have repurposed an undocumented web shell used in previous attacks.</li></ul>
