The British competition regulator, Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), has determined that Alphabet's partnership with Anthropic does not qualify for investigation under the merger provisions of the Enterprise Act 2002.
Google's investment in Anthropic included a large cloud services contract, but Anthropic is not restricted to using Google's cloud services.
Anthropic has received larger investments from other tech firms, including Amazon.
The CMA concluded that Google has not acquired material influence over Anthropic through the partnership.
