CME Group announced the launch of XRP futures on May 19, expanding its suite of cryptocurrency derivatives which already includes Bitcoin and Ethereum futures.
The XRP futures are expected to attract more institutional participants, potentially leading to increased trading volumes and improved price stability in the XRP market.
The futures will be offered in two sizes: a micro contract representing 2,500 XRP and a larger contract representing 50,000 XRP, settling based on the CME CF XRP-Dollar Reference Rate.
The XRP futures launch is subject to CFTC approval and is seen as a significant development that could pave the way for a potential XRP Exchange-Traded Fund approval by the SEC.
