CMFRI has initiated training programs for beneficiaries of the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan to educate them on sustainable feed formulation and production techniques for cage fish and bio-floc farming.
The training includes using technology developed by CMFRI for producing fish feed using BSF larvae, an alternative protein source.
The aim is to reduce dependency on conventional feed ingredients like fish meal and soybean by training participants on feed processing techniques using BSF larvae.
The initiative is part of CMFRI's efforts to boost livelihood opportunities for marginalised coastal communities through targeted capacity building, promoting cost-effective feed preparation to increase profits from fish farming.
