Cognizant is offering salary hikes to over 300,000 employees this year, in addition to merit increases received by eligible directors and above in January.
The salary hike comes after the resignation of Cognizant's chief people officer, Rebecca Schmitt, effective May 5.
Cognizant's CEO, Ravi Kumar, said that the company advanced the merit increase to be six months earlier in the year, following year-end performance reviews.
The move is seen as an effort to reduce attrition, which has been high in the Indian IT sector but is gradually stabilizing.
