A team of undergrads at Purdue University in Indiana designed and built a Rubik’s cube-solving robot that set a new Guinness World Record by solving the cube in just 0.103 seconds.
Named Purdubik’s Cube, the robot surpassed Mitsubishi's previous record of 0.305 seconds achieved by its TOKUFASTbot.
The team overcame challenges with cube disintegration by optimizing the mechanical interior with a custom built core and adjustments to color blocks.
The Purdue University students' accomplishment is faster than human reaction time, and their robot's record-breaking time is currently at 0.103 seconds.
