Karnataka IT Minister Priyank Kharge stated that common sense, not artificial intelligence, could have prevented the tragic stampede linked to RCB celebrations that left 11 dead.
Kharge emphasized the need for collective responsibility, mentioning BCCI, IPL officials, government, home department, RCB team, and fans could have performed better in managing the situation.
While discussing the role of AI in crowd management, Kharge acknowledged that AI could identify high-density areas but emphasized that the ultimate decision-making needed to be done by people on the ground.
The Karnataka government has taken accountability for the incident and is working on preventive measures. Kharge mentioned the possibility of introducing a crowd management bill advocating for the use of technologies in the future.
