Rubén Valdez Practice’s Spiritual Enclosure is a circular intervention designed for reflection in the desert of Todos Santos, Mexico, commissioned by Paradero Hotels.
The structure, crafted from concrete, is partially sunken with a circular ring emerging just above ground level, featuring a single semi-circular aperture opening toward distant mountain ridgelines.
The architects, Rubén Valdez Practice, incorporate symbolism and spirituality into the design, utilizing organic curves, minimal detailing, rows of wooden benches, and a polished obsidian disc referencing tezcatl mirrors used in Mesoamerican cultures.
The Spiritual Enclosure is oriented along an east-west axis to capture the sun's movement throughout the day, offering visitors a space for contemplation, reflection, and connection with the natural surroundings.
