Copilot+ PCs with AMD or Intel CPUs are finally getting some key AI features in Windows 11 – although I’m starting to doubt Recall will ever happen
- Microsoft has introduced new AI features to Copilot+ PCs, including live captions and image generation capabilities for AMD and Intel-powered laptops.
- The system-wide live captions feature, supporting over 40 languages, now includes AMD Ryzen AI 300 CPUs and Intel Core Ultra 200V processors.
- Owners of Copilot+ PCs with AMD and Intel CPUs have gained an AI assistant called Cocreator in Paint for generating images based on instructions.
- The Photos app on Copilot+ PCs is also receiving the Image Creator and Restyle Image features for creating and editing images.
- Voice Access improvements will enable natural language voice commands on Copilot+ PCs with AMD and Intel CPUs later this year.
- While features are gradually rolling out, users may need to update their Windows 11 preview to access the new capabilities.
- Windows users can opt to receive the latest updates by enabling the 'Get the latest updates as soon as they're available' option in Windows Updates.
- AI features for Paint and Photos apps require the latest versions from the Microsoft Store for full functionality.
- However, the highly anticipated Recall feature, a supercharged Windows search, may face delays in release and its future remains uncertain.
- Microsoft's Recall feature, which relies on taking regular screenshots, has faced setbacks and has been in testing after receiving criticism for privacy concerns.
