Belgium's KBC Bank is set to launch retail trading for cryptocurrencies, allowing clients to buy Bitcoin and Ether through its Bolero platform.
KBC is the first major Belgian bank to enter the crypto market, providing an alternative to global platforms like Coinbase and Binance.
The bank is working on gaining regulatory approval under the EU's new Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) rules and expects to offer the crypto trading feature by autumn.
Interest in Bitcoin is particularly high among younger Belgians, with many already investing in crypto, leading KBC to anticipate increased usage of its Bolero platform with the addition of digital currency trading.
