Spotify is cutting off access to some features, such as artist and song suggestions, for developers using its Web API to create third-party apps.
The move is aimed at preventing developers from unlawfully scraping data from Spotify's platform and using it to create rival AI music recommendation models.
Developers will also lose access to Spotify's Audio Analysis and Audio Features, as well as algorithmically generated playlists.
Some Spotify users have expressed frustration at the removal of functionality, suspecting it's motivated more by concerns over training AI models than security or user privacy.
