The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and Department of Defense (DoD) have jointly addressed recent drone sightings in the northeast United States.
Over one million drones are lawfully registered in the US, and the agencies are working together to investigate reports and ensure airspace safety.
After reviewing data and citizen reports, officials concluded that the majority of sightings involve legal drone operations, and no national security or public safety risks have been identified.
The agencies recognize public concern and are calling on Congress to pass counter-drone legislation to identify and mitigate any potential threats.
