The Department of Justice (DOJ) has accused Google of systematically destroying instant message chats every 24 hours, in violation of federal rules to preserve potentially relevant communications for litigation.
The DOJ claims that Google should have changed its defaults in 2019 when the company anticipated this litigation.
This alleged issue has been raised previously in Epic Games' antitrust litigation against Google.
The DOJ's accusation raises concerns about Google's compliance with federal rules and its handling of potentially relevant communications for litigation purposes.
