<ul><li>The U.S. Department of Labor has proposed a rule to phase out subminimum wage for workers with disabilities.</li><li>Currently, the Fair Labor Standards Act allows employers to apply for subminimum wage certificates to prevent curtailment of employment opportunities.</li><li>Due to advancements in employment opportunities, subminimum wages are no longer necessary, according to DOL.</li><li>The proposed rule would allow a three-year phaseout period for employers to transition to paying workers with disabilities the full minimum wage.</li></ul>
