Donald Trump has nominated Paul Atkins, a pro-crypto candidate, to replace Gary Gensler as the Chair of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Atkins, a former SEC Commissioner and currently working at his risk management consultancy company Patomak Global Partners, is expected to have a more favorable approach to the cryptocurrency industry compared to Gensler.
The nomination of Atkins has increased the chances of Solana exchange-traded funds (ETFs) being approved by the SEC.
The market has reacted positively to Trump's decision, with Bitcoin surpassing $100,000 and Ethereum experiencing a 5.4% rally.
