<ul data-eligibleForWebStory="true"><li>The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has simplified the process for switching between prepaid and postpaid mobile connections.</li><li>The new directive, issued on June 10, 2025, reduces the mandatory cooling-off period for reconversion to 30 days for the first switch between prepaid and postpaid.</li><li>For subsequent conversions using OTP, the original 90-day lock-in period will still apply.</li><li>Subscribers need to be informed of the applicable lock-in period each time a conversion is initiated to ensure transparency and prevent misuse.</li><li>Reconversion during the lock-in period can also be done through physical verification at authorized outlets or Points of Sale (PoS) by completing the existing KYC process.</li><li>The simplified process aims to enhance user convenience while maintaining security and compliance standards.</li></ul>
