The Methuen Police Department (MPD) in Massachusetts has highlighted the role of drones in enhancing police operations.
The MPD's Drone Unit was established in 2017 and has expanded under the leadership of Chief Scott J. McNamara.
The department currently has seven Part 107 licensed officers and three drones, including a DJI MATRICE M200 V2 and a DJI MAVIC 3T.
Drones are used for monitoring large outdoor events, search and rescue, surveillance, evidence collection, and to secure perimeters during active investigations.
