Dutch publisher Veen Bosch & Keuning (VBK) plans to use artificial intelligence (AI) for translating a limited number of commercial fiction books into English.
The project involves less than 10 titles, for which English rights have not been sold and are not expected to be sold in the future.
VBK emphasizes that human action is involved throughout the translation process, with AI assisting in the initial translation.
Critics express concerns about the use of AI for literary translations and highlight the potential for incorrect or bland translations.
