E-Voting Made Easier: What Shareholders Need To Know About The New CDSL, NSDL Apps

  • The two main securities depositories in India, CDSL and NSDL, have launched a new feature in their investor apps integrating recommendations from proxy advisory firms to assist shareholders in making informed voting decisions.
  • Previously, retail investors had to visit individual proxy advisory firms' websites to access expert advice on corporate resolutions, while institutional investors had easier access to such information.
  • The initiative allows all shareholders, regardless of size, to view expert voting suggestions in one place, provided by Stakeholders Empowerment Services, Institutional Investor Advisory Services, and InGovern Research.
  • SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey highlighted the importance of shareholder voting to hold company management accountable, expressing that the new feature aims to empower retail investors and simplify the voting process.
