Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced plans to double the company's vehicle production in the United States within 2 years.
Musk's pledge comes after US President Donald Trump's decision to purchase a Tesla and in support of the US government's promotion of domestic manufacturing.
Details on how Tesla plans to achieve this production increase are unclear, but it is speculated that the Gigafactory Texas complex might be expanded.
Tesla currently has a production capacity of 1 million vehicles per year in the US, and increasing it to 2 million would require a significant boost in output, possibly with the Cybercab vehicle.
