Elon Musk reportedly fired Omead Afshar, Tesla’s vice president in charge of sales and manufacturing in North America and Europe.
The reason for Afshar's dismissal is not immediately known as Musk, Afshar, and Tesla have not provided comments on the matter.
Afshar was supportive of Tesla's robotaxi service in Austin and was not a very public-facing executive but had increasing responsibilities, including leading the construction of Tesla's factory in Austin.
This firing comes at a challenging time for Tesla as its sales growth has stagnated, facing a decrease in sales for the first time since mass EV production started, coupled with Musk's political involvement. Other executive changes include the departure of Jenna Ferrua, Tesla's director of HR for North America.
