LeoPalace Resort, a major hotel and resort in Guam, will pay over $1.4 million to settle allegations of providing less favorable treatment to non-Japanese workers of American national origin.
The settlement follows a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) alleging the violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The EEOC declared its focus on protecting U.S. workers from anti-American bias.
The acting chair of the EEOC, Andrea Lucas, emphasized the agency's mission to combat national origin discrimination and unlawful race and sex discrimination.
