Engineering Exports Promotion Council (EEPC) fears a potential annual drop of USD 4-5 billion in engineering exports to the US due to additional duties imposed on iron & steel and auto components.
According to the trade data, engineering exports during 2024-25 reached an all-time high of USD 116.67 billion, up from USD 109.3 billion in the previous year.
The competition from China in other markets and the need to explore new markets in Latin America, Central America, the Middle East, and Africa has added to the concerns of the engineering exports sector.
EEPC highlights the need for government support in terms of fiscal incentives and market access to navigate the volatile and uncertain global trade and economic scenario.
