The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted California two waivers, allowing the state to continue regulating vehicle-caused air pollution.
The first waiver is for California's Advanced Clean Cars II regulations, which apply to light- and medium-duty vehicles.
The second waiver is for regulations controlling the amount of nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted by heavy-duty and off-road vehicles.
The EPA's decision follows California's application for the waivers in 2023 and a review process.
