The European Commission fined Apple 500 million euros and Meta 200 million euros for violating the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
Apple breached the DMA's anti-steering obligation by imposing restrictions on app developers from informing consumers about offers outside Apple's App Store.
The commission ordered Apple to remove the imposed restrictions and pay the fine.
Meta breached the DMA's obligation to offer consumers a choice to use a service with less personal data by implementing the 'Consent or Pay' model, which did not comply with the DMA.
