The European Union has issued fines worth €700 million to Apple and Meta Platforms for breaching the bloc's DMA law.
Apple has been fined €500 million for breaching the section of the DMA related to in-app purchases and restrictions on external websites.
Meta has received a fine of €200 million for failing to comply with the law's targeted advertising provision and providing an inadequate opt-out option.
Both Apple and Meta have responded to the fines, with Apple stating that it has made changes to comply with the law, while Meta accuses the EU of applying different standards to American businesses.
