Apple has explored the idea of making the upcoming iPhone 17 Air a port-free design, making it the thinnest iPhone yet.
Apple initially scrapped the idea due to concerns about violating EU regulations, but the EU has confirmed that a fully port-free design would be permissible within existing regulations.
The EU regulation states that if a device has a wired charging port, it must be USB-C, but there is no requirement for a USB-C port itself.
Having a port-free iPhone would allow for a perfectly sealed, waterproof, and wireless device.
