The European Commission has fined Meta almost 798 million euros (about $840 million) for linking Facebook Marketplace to its social network and imposing unfair conditions on rivals.
Meta will appeal the ruling, stating that people use Marketplace because they want to, not because they have to.
The Commission determined that Facebook users were exposed to Marketplace whether they wanted it or not, and that Meta imposed unfair trading conditions on other classified platforms.
Meta has been ordered to end its practices and not repeat them.
