French health insurance startup Alan is expanding to Canada, becoming the country's first new health insurance company in almost 70 years.
Alan treats health insurance as software-as-a-service and offers additional services such as a mobile app for chat with doctors, ordering prescription glasses, and accessing preventive care content.
With a federal OFSI license obtained, Alan is building a local board and team in Canada, planning to hire 50 people over the next few years.
Alan aims to be a global company and sees Canada as a significant market with both a national healthcare system and private health insurance coverage.
