A statistical study published in the journal Franklin Open by researchers from the University of Technology Sydney concludes that monkeys typing out Shakespeare's works is not plausible.
The Infinite Monkey Theorem, which posits that given enough time, a monkey could type out the complete works of Shakespeare, was analyzed by UTS mathematicians.
The researchers considered the likelihood of a given string of letters being typed by a finite number of monkeys within a finite time period, accounting for the estimated lifespan of the universe.
The study found that even with improved typing speeds or an increase in chimpanzee populations, monkey labor would not be a viable tool for developing non-trivial written works.
