<ul><li>External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed the need for early conclusion of the proposed India-US bilateral trade deal.</li><li>The discussion took place after US President Donald Trump announced reciprocal tariffs on approximately 50 countries, including India.</li><li>This phone conversation was the first high-level contact between the two sides after the announcement of the tariffs on April 2.</li><li>India and the US are currently in negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement.</li></ul>
