The New Jersey and New York regions have seen a significant increase in brush fires due to drought and dry conditions.
In response to the historic increase in brush fires, the FDNY has established its first Brush Fire Task Force, consisting of fire marshals, fire inspectors, and tactical drone units.
Drones will be used by the task force to locate potential fire areas, track active fires, and help predict fire spread.
The task force aims to prevent brush fires, ensure firefighter safety, and identify the causes of fires to keep New Yorkers safe.
