Developer The Game Kitchen, known for Blasphemous, is now working on a new 2D title, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, in collaboration with Dotemu and Koei Tecmo.
The Game Kitchen was chosen by Dotemu for their work on Blasphemous and their fit for the Ninja Gaiden series.
The team faced challenges with licensing and adapting from a Metroidvania style to a stage-by-stage structure for Ninja Gaiden.
They had creative freedom but had to consult with Team Ninja for important decisions.
Research was done on the Ninja Gaiden series, supported by Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja, to ensure respect for the series' history and lore.
The protagonist of Ragebound, Kenji Mozu, was created as a new character to respect Ryu Hayabusa's legacy and offer room for growth.
Additionally, Kumori, a secondary playable character, was introduced from the Black Spider clan.
The team maintained the gore in Ninja Gaiden, adapting it to suit the fast-paced gameplay of the series.
Excitement surrounds Ninja Gaiden 4, developed by PlatinumGames, with anticipation for new characters and gameplay.
The Game Kitchen is excited about the potential of the Switch 2 and plans to support it for future games.
