Microsoft is making changes to Edge in the European Economic Area to comply with the Digital Markets Act, which will stop prompting users to set it as the default browser.
Users outside the EEA will not benefit from these changes, as there are no regulatory pressures in place like in the EEA.
Additional changes include not receiving prompts to reinstall Edge when it's uninstalled and having more file formats tied to the default browser choice.
Windows users in the EEA will also soon be able to uninstall the Microsoft Store, with app updates continuing even after removal to ensure security patches.
