A federal judge has issued a preliminary injunction on components of two executive orders by former President Trump targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
Plaintiffs alleged that the orders violated the First and Fifth Amendments, as well as the separation of powers clause of the U.S. Constitution.
The judge found that the plaintiffs were likely to succeed on their claims and granted an injunction on First and Fifth Amendment grounds.
The decision deals a blow to Trump's efforts to dismantle DEI initiatives, but the outcome may depend on future appeals by the federal government.
