Fiat faced low demand for the 500e, resulting in production pauses, leading to the decision to introduce a gas-powered version.
A new gas-powered Fiat 500, starting at €17,000, is set to be produced at the Mirafiori plant, with a 1.0-liter mild-hybrid engine producing 70 horsepower.
The introduction of the gas model is part of Fiat's strategy to increase production at the Turin plant and comply with EU emissions regulations.
The gas Fiat 500 will be offered in hatchback, convertible, and 3+1 configurations, while the performance division, Abarth, shifts focus to electric variants.
