Fidelity Investments has registered its blockchain-based version of the U.S. dollar money market fund known as the Fidelity Treasury Digital Fund to enter the growing tokenized assets market.
The fund, operating on the Ethereum network with the possibility of adding more blockchains in the future, aims to enhance transfers and settlements.
Fidelity joins BlackRock and Franklin Templeton in offering tokenized U.S. Treasuries, with the tokenized market growing 500% over the past year.
The adoption of blockchain technology in the financial industry continues to increase, contributing to improved operational efficiencies and cost reductions.
