Figma is launching a new tool, Dev Mode Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, to help AI models translate designs into fully coded applications more effectively.
The MCP server allows AI models to access data from Figma directly, providing precise design details like colors and figures used, enhancing accuracy in replicating designs and reducing AI coding tools' workload.
Figma plans to introduce more Dev Mode MCP Server updates in the future, including remote server capabilities and deeper codebase integrations.
The beta rollout of the MCP server follows the full availability of the Figma Make platform, enabling users to create functional applications by describing them, and the upcoming release of Figma Sites Code Layers feature for interactive website experiences on June 12th.
