Philips has launched an initiative called Philips Fixables, allowing customers to download and 3D print replacement parts for certain products.
The program is currently in the early stages with a limited rollout, starting with a 3mm comb attachment for a Philips shaver.
Customers can download the necessary files from Printables.com, and the success of the printed parts relies on following Philips's recommended print settings.
While the expansion and timeline for additional components are unclear, this move towards open-source repair signals a shift towards supporting product longevity.
