Finnish nuclear tech company, Steady Energy, secures €32M funding to build the world's first commercial nuclear heating reactor by early 2030s.
The funding will be used for advancing the LDR-50 reactor project, including construction of a pilot plant, team strengthening, design work acceleration, and sales expansion in Sweden and Poland.
Steady Energy's small modular reactor (SMR) aims to provide affordable, emission-free heating without subsidies, with each reactor designed to run for 60 years at approximately €100M per reactor.
The company, supported by a team with over 250 years of combined nuclear experience, targets commercial deployment in the early 2030s, addressing global energy consumption and CO2 emissions from heating.
