Tesla has launched the Robotaxi platform in Austin, Texas, allowing people to request rides from driverless Model Y vehicles.
The Tesla Robotaxi app was officially launched on June 22 for non-employees as part of the Early Access Rider program.
Currently, there are only 10 to 20 driverless vehicles in operation within the Tesla fleet for Robotaxi service.
The Robotaxi app is integrated into Tesla's existing iOS smartphone app and does not require a separate download.
The app features a familiar and user-friendly interface, allowing users to request rides, select destinations, and receive real-time updates on their ride status.
Users can customize ride settings such as preferred cabin temperature through the app.
The app provides helpful tips for users to understand and utilize the driverless ride-sharing service effectively.
It offers smart suggestions for destinations like cafes, restaurants, parks, and shopping centers for riders to explore.
The Robotaxi App features a Cybercab-inspired color theme with golden hues, reflecting the design of the autonomous car.
For the initial stage, Tesla is not accepting tips for Robotaxi rides and follows a flat $4.20 rate per ride system.
