The penultimate update for Guild Wars 2's Janthir Wilds expansion, Repentance, marks the midpoint of the expansion's continuing story.Repentance introduces a new map called Mistburned Barrens, central to Mursaat activity and bloodstone sacrifices.Players encounter Mursaat ghosts and are gated by a mastery requirement to progress early on in the story. The Mursaat Mirror mastery introduces unique mechanics like jade tech zip lines on the new map.Mistburned Barrens features survey events with unique visuals, narrative themes, and final bosses in three different lanes. The map emphasizes exploration and randomized event chains, similar to the structure of Drizzlewood Coast but without the ongoing battle.Notable absences in this update include Countess Anise, Charr and Sylvari females due to ongoing SAG-AFTRA voice actors' strike.New relics that can be crafted and traded by anyone, 12 in total, are introduced in this update.Completing Mistburned Barrens' meta achievement will reward players with the Salmon of Knowledge backpack, part of the legendary backpiece. The update also introduces the new bloodstone infusion that drops from raid, convergence, and survey event bosses.
