Ford is facing a lawsuit from Transit Trail owners over a recall fix that they claim ruined the van's off-road capabilities.
The issue arose because the Transit Trail's 30.5-inch all-terrain tires rubbed the wheel wells when loaded, prompting Ford to swap them for 28-inch tires.
This fix reduced the van's ground clearance by over an inch, impacting its off-road performance, approach, and departure angles.
The plaintiffs seek a better solution from Ford, but with the Transit Trail no longer in production, a permanent fix involving new springs and suspension components may be unlikely.
