A Ford employee and three others have been arrested for their involvement in a multi-million-dollar theft ring, accused of stealing parts and accessories from various Ford factories and reselling them online.
The thefts occurred over a span of two years, with parts taken directly from assembly lines. Police conducted search warrants at two Detroit businesses and two homes following a lengthy investigation involving Ford's Global Security team.
The stolen items include hoods, headlights, bumpers, and other components from Ford factories producing models such as the F-150, Ranger, Bronco, and Mustang. Possible charges for the individuals arrested include grand theft auto, racketeering, and operating a criminal enterprise.
This incident marks the second major theft operation involving automotive factory parts discovered this year, with a recent case in India involving the theft of over 900 Kia engines. Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shanin has stated that such criminal activities will not be tolerated in the area.
