The EARTH to SPACE Festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts Foster + Partners’ lunar habitats and Cai Guo-Qiang’s interactive fireworks exhibition.
From March 28th to April 20th, 2025, the festival brings together musicians, astronauts, poets, physicists, visual artists, and engineers.
The event explores perspectives on the natural world, including architecture on Mars and the Moon, inviting visitors to engage with interactive installations.
Foster + Partners showcases their exhibition 'From Earth to Space and Back,' featuring scale models and 3D-printed structures for the Moon and Mars.
They also present research on advanced metal and concrete printing for 3D-printed habitats, aiming to revolutionize construction methods.
Cai Guo-Qiang collaborates with his AI model, cAITM, to create an interactive fireworks exhibition called 'Interspecies Love Letter' at the festival.
Visitors can witness the creative process behind the exhibition, showcasing the artist's sketches, gunpowder paintings, and robotic arm studies.
The festival also features a lineup of performances, talks, and exhibitions by astronauts, scientists, musicians, and artists in various fields.
Inspired by President Kennedy's legacy, the event combines artistic and scientific exploration to commemorate the first moon landing in 1969.
Programs include the US premiere of 'The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks,' a film on Apollo missions, along with dance performances and Nobel Laureate talks.
