Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, has halted its interest in acquiring a stake in Nissan as the automaker explores a potential merger with Honda.
Foxconn's bid approach was rejected previously by Renault, Nissan's biggest shareholder.
However, Foxconn is still considering a bid for Nissan and waiting to see if there is any progress in the potential merger between Nissan and Honda.
A merger between Nissan and Honda would create a company with a valuation of around $54 billion, making it the third largest automaker by sales.
