11 Bit Studios have shared new details and images of their untitled Project 8, a mournful third-person action-adventure that was cancelled last year amid layoffs.
The game concept was about working through the five stages of grief after losing a loved one, combining stealth, climbing, and environmental puzzling elements.
The cancellation was attributed to overambition in entering the third-person action-adventure genre, lack of experience, and difficulties in making the game enjoyable.
The project faced several delays in development, led to layoffs of 18 people, and was ultimately cancelled due to financial risk and expected losses.
